We are interested in perfecting their temperament, size, eye color and coat. Our kittens are raised in our own home so that they are well socialised when they come to live with you.

Birthing or Queening

The Queen stays closely by me until she gives birth and then I am there for her.  My job is to reassure her and to make sure the new born kittens are kept warm and dry.  The ones already born often get cold while the Queen is still giving birth. I have a heated bed for them and also use a heat pak.  When the Queen has finished giving birth, this can take sometimes 2 hours, I change all the bedding under her and her kittens. The kittens are now latched on to mum and enjoy the colostrum and the Queen is purring happily while still attending to the 'clean up'.

The queen will stay with her kittens grooming and feeding them and only leaving them to eat for herself or use her litter tray.

At the age of 4 weeks the kittens begin to eat and are offered Royal Canin Kitten dry food and boiled chicken. They stay on this diet until they are almost ready for their new homes and then they are introduced to the type of foods which they will have in their new homes. During this time they are introduced to the normal household noises and other household animals so they are well socialized by the time they leave us.

At 7 weeks of age the kittens go to the local veterinarian for their vet check and their first vaccination and worming. At this age their color and patterns are clear and prospective owners are invited to view the kittens and choose their new baby.  At 10 weeks of age the kittens will be desexed, microchipped and wormed and ready to go to their new loving homes. Of course they are also litter trained at this time.
